Goya Nylon String Guitar - 1960s or 70s.

$1,950.00

The perfect gift or collectors item for a JE superfan… This is the guitar I wrote my albums “Jukebox” and “Alpine Coda” on along with another 300+ songs. It’s been a great muse for me, and I’ve even recorded a few songs with it. “Dreamers and Fools” was recorded with this guitar. I acquired it in a trade deal back in 2013 from my friend and co-worker at the time, George Weber. Prior to that, it sat in a case for several years in the CRMS high school music building.

I’ll be honest, this guitar has some issues. The top is split. The frets are pancaked. There is at least one broken brace. The strings are old. The pickup is wonky. If you bought one on eBay, it would cost a lot less than this- but this is the one that inspired me. It has been a mainstay of my home studio since 2013, and it’s traveled with me all over the states. At some point, I sketched in Sharpie on the top a doodle of the states I’ve lived in. This guitar has mojo for days, and, it stays in tune.

If you’re looking for a loud guitar, this isn’t it. If you’re looking for a guitar with sparkling, punchy tone, this isn’t it. If you’re looking for a guitar that plays like a dream, this isn’t the one. That said, it’s a trustworthy friend. It has a deep, warm sound, and is extremely comfortable to play all day. It’s a songwriting champ.

I am looking to sell it so I can fund a few upgrades in my studio. I hope it finds a good home, someone who will continue writing with it, and who appreciates all it has done for me.
